Rockhampton (Capricornia)

Queensland city straddling the Tropic of Capricorn on the Fitzroy River, gateway to the tropical pastoral region that Xavier Herbert's 1938 novel "Capricornia" fictionalised. Midnight Oil's 2002 album takes its name and concept from that book — a reckoning with frontier race relations from a band's-eye view of northern Australia.
