Redfern (Sydney)

Inner-Sydney suburb on Gadigal land, and from the 1970s a key centre of urban Aboriginal politics and culture. "Warakurna" yokes it directly to the desert in the opening line, "In Redfern as there is in Alice" — insisting the struggles of the city and the bush are one.
